Bristol Music Teacher - Jack Vaughan

Bristol Film & TV Music Composer

Jack has been writing music for film, media and theatre for over 10 years. From a young age, Jack studied orchestration and composition with Bristol Film Composer and Conductor William Goodchild. This sparked a lifelong fascination with the effect of music and sound on picture and he’s been involved in music for media ever since.

Jack’s first job was a runner and then audio assistant at Films@59, Bristol’s famous post production facility – home to many great British productions such as Planet Earth, Frozen Planet and the Great British Bakeoff. It was there Jack gained a great insight into the entire post production process and started scoring films for the first time. During that time Jack was also a music director and assistant director at the Bristol Old Vic young company which gave him a huge appreciation and understanding of theatre and drama.

Since then Jack has scored numerous animations, films, adverts and other productions. He’s been involved in award winning films and been composer in residence for numerous institutions. Nowadays he’s also involved in the training of young composers and currently runs an educational platform; LeanMusician.com all about musical mastery.

‘Jack is a highly accomplished young musician. He is passionate about music and serious about developing his craft. He’s a lovely guy: personable, mature, friendly, and an absolute delight to work with. William Goodchild. 'Wild Alaska' (Composer) & 'Frozen Planet' (Conductor).
‘Jack is obviously a very talented guy. His music already sounds better than half the stuff I hear on TV right now… A great blend of musicality and sound design savvy…’Daniel Pemberton ‘Peep Show’, ‘Upstairs, Downstairs’ and ‘The Awakening’ (Composer)

Jack is an incredible talent. His compositions are brilliantly dramatic but also full of intimacy and wisdom. It’s so great to work with someone who’s able to deploy such creativity in a focused and professional way.Dan Brown - Massive Attack (co-writer), Will Young (producer), BBC Natural World (Composer).
